The Role
The Manufacturing Engineering (ME) Coordinator is the main interface between a team of Work Pack & Production Planners, the project team, Ship Management, and other stakeholders. The ME- Coordinator works within the project organisation along with the Ship Management team.
The ME- Coordinator utilises knowledge within the team to complete tasks. The incumbent is the point of contact between the line organisation and the respective project organisation in all production planning and work pack related matters.
The ME- Coordinator will assist the ME department in developing and maintaining production and technical documents, including work packs & specifications, specifically for the construction of ships. The ME- Coordinator will also coordinate different scheduling tasks and coordinate changes on a number of vessels under construction and is responsible for the resolution of planning and resource issues.
Responsibilities
Management of the flow of technical documents (demarcation lists, specifications) with the respective line organisation
Monitoring of production status and progress
Regular review of the production schedule and its progress in relation to production milestones and build phases.
Overseeing the execution of the ERP system-based work packages and their execution in accordance with schedule, design and build strategy.
Managing the Work Pack and Production Planners in respect to the submission of work packs to sub-Contractors as per the schedule.
Liaison with the Document Control department for submittal of work packages to external stakeholders.
Collaborate with the Engineering/Design, Scheduling, Manufacturing Engineering and Procurement Departments to ensure availability of work packs, material and documents to execute the scope of work as per the schedule.
Analyse short term issues with different production and Ship Management stakeholders and develop recommendations for resolution.
Work closely with the Ship Management team to develop and establish the build strategy and its requirements.
Coordination and management of changes to ensure their implementation in a timely manner.
The ME Coordinator is responsible for the execution and control of the production reviews based on our construction philosophy.
Analyse the impact of unplanned issues and make recommendations for recovery in close cooperation with other stakeholders.
Respond to product delivery requests by customer and internal stakeholders and its coordination across internal departments.
Representing the head of the respective ME line organisation during absence.
Requirements
A minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in a naval shipyard environment.
Sound knowledge of shipyard processes and the dependencies in shipbuilding.
Experience working with technical drawings, bill of materials, work packs and their structure.
Advanced skills in the Microsoft suite of products, in particular Word, Excel and Project.
Experience in the use of 3D visualisation software.
Well, trained in the use of shipyard ERP systems and its functions.
Well- developed communication and interpersonal skills
An ability to think laterally with problem solving ability.
Ability to self-manage and work to tight deadlines.
An ability to analyse and manage complex issues.
A strategic, pragmatic, collaborative approach to work and a strong hands-on mentality.
Proven experience in leading a team (6-8 people)
