Legal Counsel - Corporate

Join our close-knit and dynamic team in North Sydney as a Legal Counsel and be at the forefront of driving impactful decision-making within our organisation. In this role, you will support and assist the legal team in providing timely legal and compliance advice to the business while protecting the legal interests, compliance standards, and requirements of The a2 Milk Company and acting as a key enabler of its growth strategy in various international markets.

Responsibilities

Play an active role in a broad range of business projects (both in NZ and overseas markets), working closely with various stakeholders across all business functions, including marketing, science and innovation, supply chain, investor relations, finance and quality and regulatory functions.

Provide legal advice and solutions on sales and marketing law issues, including reviewing and advising on marketing materials and communications.

Provide assistance with the protection and management of intellectual property assets.

Draft, review, advise on and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including supply and distribution arrangements and other legal documents.

Provide legal advice and solutions on corporate matters, regulatory issues, compliance, governance, HR, disputes & litigation.

Draft, review, advise on and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and other legal documents.

Skills & Experienc e

Law Degree and current Australian or New Zealand Practicing Certificate (to be held and maintained).

3-5 years of experience gained working in private practice (preferably commercial) and/or in-house.

Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.

Exposure to advertising/claims and intellectual property.

A strong team player who can proactively engage in a cross-functional team environment.

Ability to simplify complex legal matters for business colleagues.

Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

The ability to quickly establish trust-based relationships with local, regional, and international colleagues.

Ability to manage a high volume of matters and to provide timely responses in a fast-paced environment.

Some exposure to ASX/NZX listing rules, FMCG, Supply Chain, Manufacturing/Food Processing, Anti-Trust, Corporate Governance, and/or HR would be advantageou s.
