About the Role
Based in Melbourne and reporting to the Director of Operations for the region, working closely with Legal teams in New Zealand, you will be part of our regional sales operations team covering Australia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan.
This is not a typical legal role, the opportunity is here to focus on legal issues in an international sales operation. We are a multi-disciplinary team supporting our regional sales offices to achieve their results and ensure the long-term sustainable success of our company. Whilst you will be the Legal point of contact for Australia, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, you will provide functional leadership to the Legal Counsel based in India.
You will have opportunities to work on a broad range of matters and projects in areas of sales, distribution, health care compliance and corporate governance and be an integral part of our collaborative global legal team. It would be preferred that you have had relevant industry experience however this is not essential. You will be required to complete Company Secretary duties as part of your role for the designated region.
As part of the sales operations team, you will play a key role in both local and international projects and contribute to the direction of the regional sales organisation. This is an interesting and challenging role and it provides a unique opportunity to be involved in assisting our business to achieve results.
Skills & Experience
You will have a minimum qualification of a Bachelor of Laws (additional qualifications in accounting, finance, or business are an advantage) with around 8 years post-admission experience (PQE) in corporate or commercial law.
You will have experience in a major law firm and preferably another corporate/commercial in-house position.
You need to demonstrate the confidence to provide pragmatic and commercially sound legal advice, the ability to be a team player and to form constructive relationships within a business setting.
You should also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
You will need to be able to work across timezones and connect with multiple stakeholders at various times of the day/ night.
You must maintain knowledge of local and offshore legal requirements and identify when overseas or specialist legal expertise is required to ensure legislative requirements are adhered to, risks are appropriately managed and business outcomes achieved.
Ideally, you will be able to read and speak Mandarin.
