WAREHOUSE & DISTRIBUTION MANAGER - 2IC

Job Description

Warehouse leadership. Inventory control. Distribution. Despatch. People. If you know how to run a busy warehouse and distribution operation — not just supervise one — this could be your next step. M&B Sales is seeking an experienced Warehouse & Distribution Manager – 2IC to help lead our Bayswater operation. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, this is a hands‑on second‑in‑command role with responsibility across warehouse operations, inventory control, yard, despatch, transport coordination and frontline team performance. We need someone who understands the discipline required to move a high volume of building products through a busy distribution operation safely, accurately and on time. This is not an office‑based operations role. You will be on the floor, leading people, managing priorities, solving problems and making sure the operation delivers. The Opportunity

Our Bayswater site is a key distribution hub for M&B, servicing customers throughout the Perth metropolitan area and supporting our WA branch network. The operation handles a broad and sometimes complex range of timber, doors, hardware and building products, where stock accuracy, location control, picking accuracy, load quality and delivery performance matter every day. Working alongside our Operations Manager, you will help take ownership of the daily operation and continue building the systems, standards and accountability required as M&B grows. For the right person, this role provides genuine scope to develop into broader operational leadership within M&B. What You'll Own

Your responsibilities will include: Leading day-to-day warehouse, yard and despatch activity Coordinating labour and resources against daily workload Maintaining strong inventory, stock‑location and stock‑movement controls Managing picking, staging, checking and despatch disciplines Supporting daily transport and delivery planning Driving DIFOT, order accuracy and customer service performance Ensuring orders leave complete, accurate and in A1 condition Managing operational priorities when volumes or circumstances change Monitoring labour utilisation, overtime and productivity Leading and developing frontline operational employees Setting clear standards and holding people accountable Investigating stock discrepancies, picking errors, damage and delivery failures Identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions Driving practical improvements to warehouse layout, workflow and processes Maintaining strong safety standards across the operation Using operational systems and data to improve performance Acting as operational lead when the Operations Manager is unavailable Who We're Looking For

We are specifically looking for someone with

hands‑on warehouse and distribution experience . You may currently be a: Warehouse Manager | Distribution Supervisor | Logistics Supervisor | Warehouse Supervisor | Despatch Manager | Operations Supervisor | Distribution Manager You don't need to come from timber or building materials, but you do need to understand warehouse and distribution operations. We'd particularly like to hear from you if you have experience with: High-volume warehouse or distribution operations Inventory control and stock‑location management Pick, pack, stage and despatch processes Transport or delivery coordination Warehouse management or ERP systems Leading frontline warehouse teams Labour planning and daily resource allocation KPI-driven operational environments Investigating inventory or operational failures Continuous improvement and process discipline Forklift and mobile plant environments Experience within timber, hardware, building products, construction supply, FMCG, industrial distribution, manufacturing or similar environments would be highly regarded. The Leadership Style We Need

We're looking for someone who is

visible, practical and accountable. Someone who walks the floor and knows what's happening. Someone who notices when stock isn't where it should be. Someone who asks why an order wasn't picked correctly — and fixes the process behind it. Someone who can organise a busy team when priorities change. Someone who can have a difficult conversation when standards aren't being met. And importantly, someone who doesn't wait for the Operations Manager to tell them what needs doing. You’ll need to be comfortable making decisions, setting expectations and following things through. What Success Looks Like

At M&B our operational promise is: On Site. On Time. In A1 Condition. For this role, success means: You’ll help us improve: Inventory accuracy Picking accuracy DIFOT performance Damage and rework Labour productivity Warehouse workflow Safety performance Team accountability Why M&B?

M&B Sales is an established Western Australian timber, hardware and building materials business servicing the residential and commercial construction industry. We're continuing to grow, and with that growth comes the need to strengthen the capability of our operations. This role offers: Genuine second-in-command responsibility Direct exposure to the Operations Manager and senior leadership A broad operational remit — not just one section of the warehouse The opportunity to influence how a significant distribution operation performs Scope to improve systems, processes and team capability Exposure across warehousing, inventory, transport, safety and people leadership A genuine opportunity to develop toward broader operations management If you've built your career in warehousing and distribution, know what a well‑run operation looks like and are ready for greater responsibility, we'd like to hear from you.
