About the Division / Team
Our Hunter Valley network primarily services the Hunter Valley coal chain – the world’s largest thermal coal export operation – by providing an efficient and reliable rail transportation system between mines and the Port of Newcastle.We manage the movement of around 250 trains per day on our network. Around half of these being coal trains and the other half comprised of passenger services, as well as grain, general intermodal, and other bulk freight trains.
About the Opportunity
The role of the Area Manager is a critical people leadershiprole. You will be responsible for effectively and efficiently managing the railinfrastructure maintenance requirements to ensure the safety and integrity ofrail assets within the Muswellbrook Provisioning Centre (PC) area.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accountablefor the safe and reliable condition of the rail network across the greaterMuswellbrook area.
Builda strong safety culture within the team, in line with ARTC processes and policies.
Lead,direct and coach a team of up to 45 employees to achieve businessobjectives.
Managean operating budget of up to $14M including labour, plant, inventory, contractors,and materials.
Drivecontinuous improvement in maintenance practices and seek ways to optimise performance.
Deliverreliability improvements to improve network health and reduce customerimpact.
Promptlyattend to emergencies and irregularities and ensure that equipment ispromptly and safely returned to service.
Assistin the ongoing development of the forward strategic works plans.
About You
To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:
Tertiaryqualifications OR an appropriate trade qualification with relevantindustry experience.
Strongcommitment to safety, including knowledge of safety management principles.
Demonstratedexperience and passion for leading people with the ability to lead changeand motivate staff.
Provenmanagement experience of a large workforce, preferably in a maintenanceenvironment.
Highlydeveloped negotiation, influencing, analytical and problem resolutionskills.
Demonstratedcost and budgeting experience.
Understanding of business improvementfundamentals.
Enthusiasmto work in a fast-paced frontline maintenance operation.
Well-developedinterpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
DriversLicence – Class C.
