Introduction;
The Tasmanian Turf Club was formed in 1864. The Club runs approximately 26 thoroughbred race meetings each year including the Cressy Chaff Cutters Jim Osborne Longford Cup held at Longford Race course and the Ladbrokes Launceston Cup held each year in February attracting a crowd of up to 10,000 patrons and is the leading thoroughbred race Club in Tasmania.
Key Accountabilities of the Position include :
Reporting to the Chair and Board of Directors, this role will oversee the general management of the Club’s affairs within policy and direction of the Board. To ensure the performance of the TTC meet or exceed the Boards expectation and goals.
Specific duties of this role include;
Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization, including racing operations, finances, personnel, and other administrative functions
Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements for the organization
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including horse owners, trainers, and other industry partners
Set the strategy and overall budget for the Club in alignment with the Treasurer
Represent the organization at industry events and meetings
Ensure the effective development and growth of all direct reports, including completing regular performance check-ins and organising opportunities for professional development
Complete annual salary reviews for all employees within the Club
Planning and managing the Longford and Launceston Cups including bookings, logistics and review
Meeting the Club’s financial & KPI targets
Enhancing the Club’s profile and increase community participation
The successful applicant will possess:
Strategic, operational, financial, people management and sound decision-making skills are essential
Previous CEO or senior executive experience, with a history in effective leadership including board reporting
Strong financial management skills
Entrepreneurial abilities and an advocate with a track record in delivering outcomes including delivering quality services and a network of engaged stakeholders and members.
Understanding and experience in event and project management (highly desirable)
Knowledge of the thoroughbred horse racing industry (highly desirable)
A salary package is on offer of between 90 – 120k depending on experience and qualifications.
