Property Legal and Compliance Manager

About the candidate:
You will be an experienced high-level operator with a background in an applicable discipline such as working in the law, providing inhouse counsel, working in a property department or any other highly regulated and legislated environment. You will be a strong leader with proven capabilities in leading a team. You will also be comfortable with having regular engagement at an executive and government level to provide key advice and recommendations.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Support, develop and empower team members to achieve success,
Facilitate the appropriate management, use and development of Crown Land, including the leasing, licencing, sale, transfer, acquisition or rental of properties currently managed and administered under TasRail’s Head Lease with the Crown.
Facilitate the appropriate contracting activities with key suppliers in close collaboration with the procurement and purchasing department.
Provide timely, accurate and succinct internal advice to the business on all property related matters and opportunities.
Maintain robust and productive relationships with key external stakeholders across government.
Provide general counsel and advice to the executive.
Selection Criteria
Demonstrated experience with management in a legal or regulatory environment.
The ability to negotiate leasing agreements.
A proven track record in strategic planning, change management and project management.
Good interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to work well within a team.
Demonstrated ability to engage and interpret legal advice and produce reports to a high-quality standard.
Outstanding leadership, coaching and people management skills
Experience in presenting and communicating at board level.
