APS 6 – Nuclear Legislation and Conventions Legal Officer The Nuclear Legislation and Conventions Legal Officer (APS6) is responsible to assist the Assistant Director Nuclear Regulatory Frameworks with developing and maintaining regulatory controls, through legislation, policy and guidance material, to address hazards and risks to nuclear powered submarines.

The APS 6 will assist in the provision of legal and regulatory advice to the Australian Nuclear Powered Submarine Safety Regulator (ANPSSR).

Our ideal candidate will have knowledge of relevant legislation, international conventions, reporting requirements and Australian and International standards.

The candidate will have experience in a legal role with an ability to understand regulatory requirements and governance procedures relating to a regulatory office.

The candidate will possess or have the ability to gain an understanding of the maritime and nuclear international conventions, contemporary regulatory Defence maritime legislation and frameworks and the naval operating context.

Experience with the process of legislative change is highly desired.
