About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join the Lotus Living Collective team on a casual basis. Based in Brisbane, this role offers flexibility and the opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities. As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide essential direct support and assistance to clients, enabling them to participate in daily activities, community engagement and personal development. This position is integral to our mission of delivering person-centred care and supporting clients to achieve their goals and aspirations.

Key responsibilities

• Providing direct personal care and support assistance to clients with disabilities in accordance with their individual support plans
• Assisting clients with activities of daily living including personal hygiene, grooming, meal preparation and household management
• Supporting clients to participate in community activities, social events and recreational opportunities
• Maintaining detailed and accurate records of support provided and client progress
• Communicating effectively with clients, families, carers and other support team members to ensure coordinated and consistent care
• Promoting client independence, dignity and choice in all interactions and support delivery
• Following health and safety protocols, including infection control and manual handling procedures
• Reporting concerns or changes in client wellbeing to appropriate supervisory or management personnel
• Contributing to a positive, inclusive and supportive team environment

What we’re looking for

• Genuine passion for supporting individuals with disabilities and commitment to person-centred care
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
• Patience, empathy and emotional resilience when working with vulnerable people
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a flexible, casual capacity
• Physical fitness and capability to assist with manual handling and personal care tasks
• Reliability and punctuality, particularly important in a casual role where flexibility is required
• Current or willingness to obtain a Working with Disability clearance as required by legislation
• First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
• A valid driver’s licence would be advantageous
• Formal qualifications or experience in disability support, aged care or community services are preferred but not essential for enthusiastic and committed candidates
